Can my laptop run Windows 11?

Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 on 14 October 2025. Two questions will tell you where your machine stands.

A web page cannot read your hardware — anything claiming to “scan” your PC from a browser is not telling you the truth. This asks the two things that actually decide it, so treat the answer as a strong indication rather than a certificate.

1. What processor does it have?

On Windows: press the Windows key, type System Information, and look at “Processor”.

Why so many laptops fail this

Windows 11 needs a 64-bit processor from Microsoft’s approved list (Intel 8th generation or newer, AMD Ryzen 2000 or newer), TPM 2.0, UEFI Secure Boot, 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage.

Memory and storage are cheap to upgrade. The processor and TPM requirements are not, which is why a perfectly good 2016 laptop with a fast SSD gets turned away while a slower 2018 one sails through.
