THIS MONTH’S LAPTOP
The October 2026 machine is announced on the 1st. Whatever it turns out to be, it will meet every one of these — that is the part we commit to in advance.
It is a refurbished computer that someone else owned first, so it may have cosmetic marks, and we photograph those rather than hiding them.
We do not commit to a model in advance, because we do not control what gets donated. We commit to the specification above.
WHY WE RUN THIS
Two reasons. Both true, and one of them entirely selfish.

Every company our size pays for attention somehow. We would rather pay for it with a working computer than with a banner advert nobody asked for. You get a laptop, we get talked about — that is the whole trade, and we would rather write it down than dress it up as generosity.
TWELVE PEOPLE A YEAR

No application. No proof of income. No twelve-month wait. Just a number that came up. Twelve machines a year that go out on luck alone, on top of everything we allocate through schools and charities.
THE PART MOST GIVEAWAYS LEAVE OUT

Our application list runs to about twelve months, and this draw does not change that. It moves exactly one person past it a month. Everyone else is still waiting — including everyone who enters and does not win, which is almost everyone.

HOW TO ENTER
One entry per person, per draw. Give us your name, email and rough location. That is it. It takes about thirty seconds and it is free.
Every month is a new draw and a new list. Your entry counts for the month you made it in, so come back and enter again for the next one. We are not going to pretend that is for your benefit rather than ours — it is how a giveaway stays something people remember rather than something they did once and forgot.
Tick the email box when you enter and we will tell you the moment each new draw opens, along with what the machine is. That is the whole point of the list, and it is the only thing we use it for.

EXTRA ENTRIES
When you enter, we give you a personal link. Anyone who enters through your link counts as a referral, and each referral earns you one extra entry, up to a maximum of 5.
So the most anyone can hold in a single draw is 6 entries. That cap is deliberate — without it, one person with a large following ends up holding most of the draw and it stops being a draw.
You can also follow us on social media and comment on the monthly post. We read every one and it genuinely helps. It does not earn extra entries — the platforms have rules about that and we would rather follow them than risk the page.
HOW THE DRAW WORKS
On the last day of the month we export every valid entry, remove duplicates, add referral entries, and number the list from one upwards. We then use random.org to generate a number in that range. Random.org publishes a verifiable record of every draw, and we link to ours from the winners page.
The number that comes up wins. There is no judging and no discretion.
We publish, every month: the total number of entries, the winning number, and the random.org record.
THE CONDITIONS
- Who can enter.
- UK residents aged 18 or over. Employees of SCN Recycling Limited and their immediate families cannot enter. A parent or guardian may enter on behalf of someone under 18 and pass the laptop on.
- Cost.
- Free. There is no purchase, no payment and no premium-rate anything.
- Closing.
- 31 October 2026 at 11:59pm. Entries received after that go into the following month’s draw.
- Selection.
- At random, by random.org, from all valid entries. Method and record published above.
- Notification.
- By email within 7 days of the draw, from hello@donatecomputers.uk. Check your spam folder. If we have not heard back within 14 days we draw again, and the original entry is void.
- Delivery.
- Free, to a UK address, tracked and insured. We do not ship outside the UK.
- Substitution.
- There is no cash alternative. If the exact machine advertised becomes unavailable we will supply one that meets or exceeds the published specification, and we will say so.
- Publicity.
- We publish the winner’s first name and town only, and only with permission. You can decline entirely and still receive the laptop. We will never publish a photograph of you, or a quote from you, that you have not specifically agreed to.
- Your data.
- We use your email to run the draw and, if you tick the box, to send you the monthly announcement. The box is optional and entry does not depend on it. You can unsubscribe at any time, with no confirmation step. We delete the details of everyone who did not win 90 days after each draw. We do not sell or share your data. Privacy policy.
- Promoter.

QUESTIONS
Do I have to enter every month?
Yes. Every month is a separate draw with a fresh list, so an entry only counts for the month you made it in. It takes about thirty seconds. Tick the email box when you enter and we will tell you the moment each new draw opens, so you do not have to remember.
Can I enter more than once?
One entry per person, per draw. Entering again in the same month does not give you a second entry — additional email addresses from the same person are removed before the draw, because we normalise addresses, so aliases and dots do not create a second entry. Entering again next month is exactly what you are supposed to do.
Is it really free?
Yes. No purchase, no fee, and no postage cost to you.
Do I need to follow you on social media?
No. It makes no difference to your odds.
What condition are the laptops in?
Refurbished and tested, with a solid state drive, 16GB of memory and licensed Windows 11. Cosmetic marks are normal and we photograph them.
Where do the laptops come from?
Donated by households and businesses across the UK. We wipe every drive, repair what we can and recycle what we cannot.
I need a laptop now. Is this my best option?
