THE NUMBERS, STRAIGHT,
WITH THE WORKING SHOWN.

If you’re writing about us, everything below is current and every figure reads live from the same source as our public methodology. Nothing on this page is rounded up for effect.

The carbon figure is avoided embodied carbon — the manufacturing emissions of a replacement device that was not bought — not a measured emissions reduction. We describe it that way everywhere, and the full calculation is published.

BOILERPLATE

Accurate as displayed. The figures update as our data does, so please take them from this page on the day you publish rather than from an earlier copy.

Donate Computers UK is operated by Sustainable Compute Network, a UK social enterprise based in Huddersfield. It collects unwanted computers from households and businesses at no charge, sanitises the data to the NIST SP 800-88 standard, and refurbishes working machines for schools, charities and young people across the UK. Equipment that cannot be reused is recycled. To date it has received 533 devices and supplied 4 organisations, avoiding an estimated 148 tonnes of embodied CO2. It is registered with the Environment Agency as an upper tier waste carrier, registration CBDU607333. Its full impact methodology, including which figures are counted and which are estimated, is published at donatecomputers.uk/methodology.

RECOGNITION

Green Growth Awards — finalist

2025

Named a finalist in the first-ever Green Growth Awards, a national competition run by Small Business Britain in partnership with BT. Winners were announced at BT’s London headquarters on 11 March 2025.

The awards recognise small businesses using sustainability to drive commercial growth. Finalist, not winner — we would rather you had that distinction from us than found it out yourself.

COVERAGE

We haven’t been written about yet. When we are, the pieces will be listed here with links to the originals so you can read them rather than take our word for it.

No speaking slots to report either. When there are, they will appear here named and dated.

PRESS PACK

Nineteen files, about 7 MB. No statistics in any of them, on purpose — a static file goes stale and gets quoted years later, so the numbers live on this page instead.

Fact sheet

What we do, what we hold, what we do not hold, and the award. One place for the basics.

Media kit

Six story angles with what we can evidence for each, plus straight answers to the questions we expect.

Brand and usage

Logo variants, clear space, colours, type — and the wording we would ask you to avoid.

Awards release

Our Green Growth Awards finalist release, on the awarding body’s own template. Word and PDF.

Boilerplate and bios

Short and long boilerplate, background, and founder bio. Plain text for copy-paste.

It includes a note on how to describe us and how not to. The two we most want to get right: we are a social enterprise and not a charity, and “NIST 800-88 certified” is not a thing — it is a standard we follow, not a certification anyone has awarded us.

MEDIA ENQUIRIES

We’re a small organisation, so you’ll get the founder rather than a press office. Ask us anything, including the awkward questions — we would rather answer them than be guessed about.
