What Actually Happens to Your Data When You Donate?

Worried about your photos, passwords, and bank details? Good — you should be. Here's exactly how we destroy every trace of your data before your device goes anywhere.

SEC-025

We Get It — Your Stuff Is Personal

Photos. Passwords. Bank logins. Tax returns. That dodgy search history you'd rather forget. Your old computer knows everything about you, and the idea of handing it to a stranger is a bit terrifying.

That's why data security isn't an afterthought for us — it's literally the first thing we do.

How We Wipe Your Device

When your device arrives at our facility, it goes straight into a secure quarantine zone. Before anyone even looks at it, the hard drive goes through a multi-pass cryptographic wipe.

  • Not a factory reset. A factory reset just hides your files — they're still recoverable. Our process physically overwrites every sector of the drive with random data, multiple times.
  • Certified destruction. You get a proper Certificate of Data Destruction with the serial number of your device. It's the same standard used by banks and the military.
  • If the drive is dodgy? We physically shred it. No data survives a shredder.

You're Covered

Every drive is verified after sanitisation rather than assumed clean, and anything that cannot be verified is destroyed instead of passed on. That is the part that actually protects you — not a promise about our track record.
