Donating for Schools: A Teacher's Guide
Running a school tech drive? Here's how to collect, prep, and donate classroom devices the easy way.
Your School Has Old Tech. Someone Else Needs It.
Schools cycle through laptops, desktops, and tablets faster than most businesses. When it's time to refresh the IT suite, those old devices can make a massive difference to students at other schools who don't have any. Here's how to run a smooth donation from your school.
Step 1: Audit What You've Got
Walk through the IT cupboard (we know there is one) and make a rough list. You don't need serial numbers — just a count:
- X laptops — working, partially working, or dead
- X desktops — including monitors, keyboards, mice
- X tablets — iPads, Chromebooks, Android
- X chargers/cables — loose ones count too
Step 2: Get Admin Sign-Off
You'll need a quick approval from your Head or Business Manager. We provide a donation receipt and data destruction certificate for your records — handy for audit trails and GDPR compliance.
Step 3: Remove School Accounts
Ask your IT technician to remove any school-managed accounts, MDM profiles, and Google Workspace admin links. This is especially important for Chromebooks and iPads — if the management profile is still on, we can't reset them.
Step 4: Fill in the Donation Form
Head to our donation page and fill in the bulk donation form. For 10+ devices, we can arrange a free courier collection so you don't have to lug anything to the Post Office.
Step 5: We Handle Everything Else
We'll send labels or arrange collection, wipe every device, refurbish what we can, and send the rest for responsible recycling. You get certificates for everything — data destruction, carbon offset, donation receipt.
Bonus: Apply for Devices Too
Is your school on the other side of the equation? If you need devices for students, you can apply through our Schools programme. We match donated equipment with schools that need it most. It's completely free.
